Administrative Assistant

Valerie is currently a student in West Valley College, studying to become a librarian. She is an excellent Administrative Assistant at CAA, and she gives new hope to individuals with Asperger’s syndrome of what possibilities are out there to become successful contributing citizens in the workforce.

Richard Hermerding

Chief Financial Officer

Richard has been the Chief Financial Officer of the College of Adaptive Arts since September 2013.  He met Co-Founder, DeAnna Pursai at a Chamber of Commerce mixer and found the school a very worthwhile cause.  He has worked as a Chief Financial Officer and Controller for a number of companies in Silicon Valley.

Richard is a Financial Professional/Management Consultant with a exceptionally broad range of experience and education in many aspects of accounting, auditing and financial management which are used to develop solutions to complex problems.

A graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio with BA in German and Russian, an MBA with majors in Accounting and Finance, and a MA in International Business (South East Asian Concentration-Indonesia) from that university. Richard holds an additional Masters degree in Information Systems from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California and also holds or held the following designations; a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), a Certified Financial Manager (CFM), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Fraud Specialist (CFS), a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), and a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA).  Held FINRA Series 6,63,65,7, 31 licenses. 

Patricia McCauley


Evaluation Consultant

Patricia is a graduate student at Mills College studying Public Policy. She recently completed her senior policy thesis on Evaluation & Assessment of CAA’s curriculum. She also works as a behavioral specialist in the autism community, and she is a professional photographer.
